Feeling brave? This twin-supercharged Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster is up for auction
Giallo Super Fly paint, scissor doors, an aftermarket exhaust and endless headroom. What more could you want?
Are you one of those people that occasionally likes to feel thoroughly terrified behind the wheel of a supercar? Good on you, we say. Way to live a little, and have we got just the car for you.
This is a 1999 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster that’s currently for sale on US auction site Bring a Trailer. It’s finished in excellent Giallo Super Fly yellow paint and of course features those all-important scissor doors. Oh, and in the early 2000s the 5.7-litre V12 was fitted with not one but two Eaton M90 roots-type superchargers by Platinum Motorcars.
Estimates suggest that Bizzarrini V12 is now producing around 600bhp, with all of that power being sent to all four wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox that comes complete with an open-gate shifter. Ooft.
We’re told the facelifted Diablo (complete with those Nissan 300ZX headlights rather than pop-ups) has covered 17,000 miles in its time on this earth, with 2,400 of those being added by the current owner since it was acquired in 2007. Clearly not a daily driver, then.
The interior looks in rather good nick as a result, though, with black leather and yellow stitching. The superchargers aren’t the only modifications either – we very much like the sound of the aftermarket Borla exhaust, and very much don’t like the look of those Maya 19in front/20in rear wheels.
Still, if you fancy a whole lot more excitement in your life, the auction ends on Friday 7 June and at the time of writing bidding stands at a nice round $100,000. Expect it to climb from there…
