Go on, take a chance and import this £5k Subaru Justy Keke Rosberg Edition
Fancy some rare JDM hatch action? It doesn’t get better than this…
To give it its full name, this is the Subaru Justy Keke Rosberg Design Limited Edition, and if it isn’t the greatest little JDM hatch that you’ve seen today then we’ll eat our traditional Finnish hats.
Rumour has it that just over 50 examples of the Rosberg edition were built in the early Nineties, despite a planned production run of 150. This is apparently number 22, and it’s up for sale on Car & Classic for just £5,000. Surely that’s worth a punt? Would be a heck of a road trip home from its current location in Finland…
The Justy had a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine and a four-wheel drive system that was activated (brilliantly) using a giant red button on the top of the gear lever. Check out the light on the dash that lets you know you’re in 4WD mode too.
This one looks in lovely condition, with some real honesty in the description that says: “Reading is 63,470km. I think it is safe to say that it is at least 163,470km, I very much doubt that it is 263,470km.”
We’re not exactly sure why Subaru attached the Rosberg name to its little hatch, especially as it wasn’t built until nearly a decade after Keke’s F1 world title. Was the Finn somehow involved in Subaru’s short-lived, flat-12 engined F1 project in 1990? Please educate us in the comments below…
Still, the Limited Edition was given lower sports suspension, 13-inch alloy wheels, some yellow pinstriping, a sunroof and a picture of Keke’s helmet on the steering wheel. Check out those 4WD graphics too.
Fancy a gamble, Internet?
