In pictures: the star cars of the 2023 Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este

Super exclusive classic and concept parade showcased some extraordinary cars

Published: 23 May 2023

Villa d’Este began life back in 1873 as a summer residence for the then Cardinal of Como, and now exactly 150 years later, this Succession-worthy hotel continues life as the summer residence for power. The Concorso d’Eleganza – an extraordinarily fancy name for a posh car show – took place over the weekend, and it was… well, a bit d'Wet.

Not in the metaphorical sense, but literal. Hosted by BMW on the banks of the incomparable Lake Como, this year’s slightly damp festival of the exquisite continues to establish a firm place on the d'Car calendar. First, as a centre for some of the world’s most exceptional historic cars, second, as a place to showcase some astonishing concepts.

First among which was BMW’s reinvention of the breadvan - sorry, d'Breadvan - which it has dubbed the ‘Concept Touring Coupe’. Will probably build a few of them, too. Hyundai was also in attendance with a rebuilt Pony Coupe Concept and the stunning N Vision 74. Will probably build a few of those, too.

But that’s the shiny new stuff. There’s a tonne of shiny old stuff too, and it is perfect fodder for cooking up your fantasy garage. So, courtesy of BMW, here are some pictures from the weekend’s varied festivities. See if you can d'Name them all.
