Quick! Now’s your chance to bid on this road-legal Porsche 962

You may recognise this particular Porsche 962 CK6. Not just because it’s still wearing its excellent red and white Kenwood livery from when it finished 9th overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1988, but because it is in fact a completely road-legal 790bhp Porsche 962 CK6.

Yep, having retired from a racing career where it was piloted by drivers such as Mario Andretti, Bruno Giacomelli, Kunimitsu Takahashi and Hideki Okada (plus five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell at the 2012 Le Mans Classic), this particular 962 was converted for road use and issued with a valid MOT and UK V5C.

The work was carried out by BBM Sport in Daventry, with a handbrake, extra cooling fans, a reversing camera and a steering wheel-mounted digital dash all fitted to satisfy the authorities.

A set of number plates were slapped on, and we’re told that since it was all finished in 2022 the car has been on multiple Euro trips, including one to Kremer Racing and the Porsche Museum in Germany. You may also have seen it at Goodwood.

Now though, you have a chance to actually buy it. Well, you do if you’ve got a huge amount of cash burning a hole in your back pocket. It’s part of Car & Classic’s ‘For the Love of Porsche’ sale which ends on Saturday, and at the time of writing bidding has reached the £650,000 mark.

Oh, and if you need any more convincing, the current MOT is apparently valid until 2027…
