What's the best performance car of 2024? We're about to find out

A simple question sparked a rather heated debate: what’s the best performance car of the last 12 months?

‘Valkyrie’, you cry. ‘But what about the 911 S/T?’ another might say. ‘GR Yaris, surely’, or ‘come on, it’s gotta’ be the RS6 GT’, or ‘stop being silly, it’s the new Z06 ‘Vette’, or… well, you see how this suddenly turns into a fully-blown argument.

That argument sparked an odyssey from the Top Gear headquarters down to Spain’s rather wonderful Navarra region – home to not just one of the greatest roads in the world, but the freshly upgraded Circuito de Navarra – where we’d continue shouting at each other via the medium of the finest fast cars 2024 has thrown up.

Stuff like the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Porsche 911 S/T. Corvette Z06. McLaren 750S. Toyota GR Yaris. BMW M4 CS. Ariel Nomad 2. Audi RS6 GT. Range Rover Sport SV. Porsche 911 GTS. Aston Martin Vantage. And a stunning Auto Union Type 52.
