The ‘Perla Nera’ is the only blacked out Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale

This is the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale ‘Perla Nera’. It isn’t a new limited edition boasting more power or more aero or a specially embroidered set of floor mats, but simply one of the original 33 cars decked out entirely in – that’s right! – black.

Well, not exactly ‘black’, but matt-finish, fully exposed carbon fibre. But it matters not: most importantly this ‘Perla Nera’ is yet another opportunity to gawp at one of the most delectable and delightful Alfa Romeos of modern times.

It’s the only car of the limited, 33-strong run to have been designed in this manner by an “Alfa Romeo collector”. And not just any collector, but – get your swear jars ready – a “passionate” one.

Said collector requested the carbon fibre – a core technical element of the 33 Stradale – be quite literally front and centre on the whole thing. It’s hand laid don’t forget, and we’re told each fibre was “positioned with extreme precision to follow the contours of the surfaces”.

It’s been debadged, too – barring the Alfa logo – while inside it’s a sea of carbon fibre elements and lots of Alcantara upholstery. Of course, the seat was designed specifically to accommodate said collector. As was the matching luggage set.

Nothing was done to the drivetrain, mind, so it remains a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with 626bhp with the ability to hit 62mph from rest in less than three seconds, and crest 207mph on a test track. There’s an eight-speed DCT ‘box attempting to direct those horsies to the rear wheels.
