Yes, this is what a McLaren P1 Spider could look like

It's not real, but it is quite excellent. Speculative renders detail open-air P1

Now that Ferrari has finally relieved the LaFerrari of its roof, McLaren really ought to do the same to the P1, don’t you think? It’s not as though they’d have any trouble selling them, and it’s the only one of the Big Three hypercars without at least the option of opening the cabin up to the elements.

In the absence of anything official from McLaren, these renders are the work of French site Virtuel-Car, which has taken bits of 675LT Spider and spliced them together with the standard P1 to create these speculative renders.

The results are a bit CGI, but we reckon this is how a P1 Spider could look if McLaren decided re-engineering the P1’s pricey carbon cell was really worth it…
