TG drives through Namibia in a Toyota Hilux... in search of a boat

One of the world's most rugged vehicles is off in search of a boat in the sand

The skeleton coast of Namibia is one of the most hostile places on the planet. So where better to find out just how tough the latest Toyota Hilux is than taking it on an adventure far from any roads or other humans. Where the only things you find are sand, salty seas, more sand, er, seals and a ship in the middle of the desert. Really.

Yep, this was a quest to take the ship of the desert to visit the ship in the desert. But when that proved a bit easy, we decided to go further, to find out just how far you can go in a bog-standard Hilux, on bog-standard tyres.

Warning: contains footage of a Hilux over the desert, as well as in the desert. It survived that particular escapade a lot better than I did...
