The 550bhp twin-turbo Dodge Charger Scat Pack starts from $55k
How does a 0-60mph time of 3.9s grab you?
Dodge has put a price on its Hurricane: the twin-turbocharged, 3.0-litre straight-six version of its brand-new Charger ‘Scat Pack’ will cost $54,995.
And it’s some hurricane, because the Scat Pack car is the most powerful petrol version of the new Charger, packing 550 US ponies and 531 US torques underneath that long, vented bonnet.
Channelled to all four wheels via an eight-speed auto (and a limited slip diff), the ICE Charger Scat Pack can run from 0-60mph in 3.9s and smash out a quarter mile in 12.2s. It’ll top out at 177mph.
That 3.0-litre benefits from things like forged aluminium pistons inside an aluminium block, and forged steel crank/rods. And turbo. Much turbo. Dodge has bolted on a pair of Garrett units that spin at 185k blowing 30psi.
The ICE Scat Pack car also comes with a set of big fat Brembo brakes all round, that new, widebody design, many modes, and lots of tech and screen real estate inside.
The new Charger range kicks off with the base 420bhp car that deploys a detuned version of the Hurricane 3.0-litre, with prices starting from $49,995. Then comes this $54,995 ICE Scat Pack, and finally the all-electric Daytona Scat Pack car with a really very massive 670bhp. That car starts from $59,995. A lot of electrified horsies for (a shade) under $60k.
Those prices are for the two-door cars. If you want a four-door Charger, add $2k to your chosen spec. Hurricane, or non-Hurricane?
