A chopped Maybach and a slammed SL: West Coast Customs at the LA show
Do you like cars with your cars? Then you’ll love WCC’s LA show stand of cars
West Coast Customs – the hugely popular creative team behind the wildest modified car builds this side of a Friday night supermarket car park – has returned to the Los Angeles motor show. And its line-up of cars is something to behold.
Largely because taking centre stage – literally, it’s in the middle of the stage – is a Maybach 57, chopped, flared, bewinged and wearing its battle scars from Jay Z and Kanye’s Otis music video. Yeah, that one. Cool car.
There are more, of course. Stuff like will.i.am’s concept Tesla, a custom silver fabrication that simply goes by the name ‘The Merc’, a C10 truck with a painting of boxer Oscar de la Hoya on the bonnet, Paris Hilton’s lightly pink Bentley, a little Mini and a slammed, lightly purple R129 Merc SL that you’ll want immediately. Sadly Xzibit was nowhere to be seen.
The stand also showcases some art cars, too, via CART Department. That’s WCC’s partner in New York that “connects art, cars and popular culture”. Think cars as giant canvases.
Amazingly, the hugely popular creative team behind these wild modified car builds all started back in 1993 when founder Ryan Friedlinghaus took a $5,000 loan from his granddad and kickstarted the team’s journey. Take a look through the gallery above (and the CART cars below) and let us know your favourite.
