Oh no! You can no longer have the Jeep Gladiator with a manual gearbox
Jeep has killed the Gladiator manual, so there’s only one stick-shift truck left on sale in the US
Jeep has updated the Gladiator pickup truck for 2025, and in doing so it has removed the six-speed manual gearbox option. Boo!
Now, this may not seem like earth-shattering news, but it does mean that there is now only one pickup truck left on sale in the USA that can be specced with a manual gearbox. We know stick shifts aren’t all that popular over on that side of the pond, but this feels like a seismic moment.
Oh, and that last bastion of manual shifting? The Toyota Tacoma. Yep, you can still have Toyota’s mid-size truck with a six-speed manual and a 2.4-litre four-pot turbo.
The Gladiator on the other hand gets a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 that makes 281bhp and 260lb ft of torque. From now on, that engine will be exclusively paired with an eight-speed auto ‘box and Jeep reckons on a max towing capacity of 3,493kg and a payload of 782kg.
The recent update also sees electric power windows now standard fit – yep, you could still get manual winding windows – and there’s a new ‘Fathom Blue’ paint colour for the exterior.
Prices start at $38,100, but how about supporting the ‘Save the Manuals’ campaign by buying a Tacoma instead?
