Here are 10 cool used BMWs for under £10,000
With future BMW models set to take after the Neue Klasse, this week’s roundup focuses on some of the marque’s greatest designs
BMW 650i (E63)
Is it just us, or has the old 6 Series aged incredibly well? You’ll struggle to get the screaming V10 for under £10k, but this 362bhp 650i with a Sapphire Black exterior and Ivory interior makes a worthy substitute.

It’s almost impossible to put together a list of Bimmers and not have at least one M3 present. Alas, with this week’s price constraint in place, your only real option is an E46 - but that’s no bad thing. Arguably the prettiest of the hardcore 3 Series’ (aside from the E30), this example even ditches the SMG gearbox for a six-speed manual, and has just 84,000 miles to its name. Bargain.
BMW Z4 35i (E89)
One of the more ‘modern’ cars featured… despite being 15 years old. This one is up for well under budget, and has a 302bhp/295lb ft six-pot to get you to 62mph in 5.2s and on to a limited top speed of 155. The numbers alone will keep you satisfied, but how good does it look with those competition-spec alloys? Ooft.

E31s are becoming increasingly hard to find for a fair price, but we’ve managed to scout a Hellrot Red facelift for £10,500. Buy it for the pop-ups, stay for the V8.
BMW 550i Touring (E61)
One of the greatest ever sleepers? Quite possibly, given the E61 550i isn’t that far off the V10-powered M5. You get 362bhp/361lb ft to haul you around in huge comfort and space; you can even redesign the entire rear-quarter into the perfect long-haul cabin for your dog.
BMW 540i Touring (E39)
Or, if the E61 is a little too, ahem, rough on the edges for your taste, this E39 Touring should be much easier to digest. Quad tailpipes, twin-spoke alloys, perfectly symmetrical kidney grilles sitting plush with the headlights: this is a masterclass in design. Better still, it’s got attractive wood accents along the interior and a manual gearbox for proper authenticity. Don’t expect it to remain below £10k for too long.
BMW Z3
You need a 43,000-mile, near immaculate BMW Z3 in your life. We don’t know why, but we just know you do.

Another low-mileage stunner within budget. Seriously, for less than the price of Britain’s cheapest new car, you could bag yourself this E38 740i.
BMW E36 325i
Far from the quickest car here, but we can gloss over that because this limited-edition E36 325i does not look like it’s done anywhere near the indicated 92,000 miles. Sure, the seats have a few creases, but almost everything else is in Concours condition. No, we don’t know what you’re waiting for either.

But not just any E28 (if such a thing even exists), this is a race trim version that actually competed in-period. Very little information is provided about specific outputs and modifications, but it's a genuine racing car with history for a smidge over budget. Surely that’s worth gambling on.
