Video: here's what the BMW M4 GTS sounds like

BMW films the 493bhp M4 GTS around Anglesey. Spoiler alert: it sounds mega

Published: 20 Oct 2015

Want to know how good the BMW M4 GTS sounds? Well, here’s your answer.

It’s barely been in our lives a fortnight, and yet BMW has already got one in the UK and on the wickedly twisty Anglesey track in North Wales. This is good news.

Things don’t really get going until a minute into the video, but when they do, you’ll want your headphones in and the volume up.

The rasping, hard edge associated with BMW’s straight six engines is happily evident, as are some histrionics on upshifts. The GTS, don’t forget, shuns a manual gearbox option, only coming with a seven-speed paddleshift transmission.

It’s what helps the bewinged M4 complete 0-62mph in 3.8sec, making it the quickest accelerating production BMW ever.

At £121,770, it’s also the priciest ever, if you discount frivolously optioned up M6 Gran Coupes. Just 30 will reach the UK, so you at least get exclusivity for your money.

If you want stats, though, all the important M4 GTS figures are right here. Because as this latest video proves, the M4 is about more than mere numbers. It will, as you’d hope for a brawny M car, slide around like there’s no tomorrow.

And BMW has also seen fit to film its new M2 around Anglesey, M Division’s littlest sports car looking even happier to skid. It leads us to suspect that there’s quite a lot of tyre budget knocking around back at Munich…
