Video: seven minutes of 850bhp Trophy Truck madness
Casey Currie’s new 850bhp Jeep Trophy serves up seven minutes of daft
Bored of seeing US Trophy Trucks doing jumps and slides and other silly things? No, us neither. So Casey Currie’s new short featuring his 850bhp Jeep Trophy is an excellent seven minutes of daft.
The Currie family is pretty well-known in the world of off-road racing; look up Currie Enterprises on the internet if you want to read about how Frank Currie started making diffs for tractors in the ‘50s and then ended up being a US household name for off-pavement motivation and weird-fit hot rods.
Grandson Casey is therefore steeped in generational off-road goodness and is pretty handy himself, having raced in pretty much every form of US off-roading known to man, from motocross to short course. His ride in this video –known as the ‘Hammer Jeep’ – is a bit odd, in that it’s a cross between a rock crawler and Trophy Truck, featuring four-wheel drive (most Trophy Trucks are rear-drive only - take a look at around 4m15s and you’ll see) and yet still featuring the big power and extreme suspension sag of a desert racer.
So those slides are slightly more difficult than they look. Still, this is a fabulous bit of fantasy video that makes Monday a little bit less boring…
