Watch: American Tuned Ep1 - Rob Dahm's four-rotor Mazda RX-7
Kicking off our new YouTube series with a 2,000bhp RX-7. Did you really expect anything less?
What better place to start American Tuned – Top Gear’s new 10-part YouTube series that explores the world of America’s most extreme tuners – than with our host Rob Dahm’s very own Mazda RX-7.
Only, Rob’s RX-7 isn’t your regular modified example. It’s a little bit more than that. In fact, it uses a wild four-rotor engine and he’s building this car by hand, often using parts borrowed from Corvettes, Toyota Supras, BMWs and Nissan GT-Rs. Oh, and he’s aiming for the not insignificant sum of 2,000bhp.
So, in this first episode of our brand-new series join Rob as he gets behind the wheel and shakes down his ludicrous 10,000rpm creation for the very first time. Our advice? Get the good speakers connected up for this one. Rob’s RX-7 is LOUD.
