The Top Gear car review:Audi R8 Spyder
On the inside
Layout, finish and space
As is standard with Audi, you’re at the behest of options list spending for the full experience, but this is a grade A cabin. The Virtual Cockpit that debuted on the TT is superb, and suits the more selfish nature of driving a supercar. The R8 gives you a big fat rev counter that lights up towards its redline, too.
There’s Apple CarPlay, inductive charging for your phone, and a choice of two seat styles, fixed-back Recaros among them. The roof gubbins do eat into legroom a little, though. The little ‘noise window’ – a piece of glass that opens up the V10 orchestra without you having to drop the roof – ought to compensate.
