Buying
What should I be paying?
Usually this is the bit where poor journalist (me) has to trawl through endless spec sheets and trim combinations, but here’s it’s brilliantly simple. In the UK we only get top-spec Summit trim, one plug-in hybrid powertrain, and no options to choose from – it’s £43,105. What you see is what you get – how refreshing is that? The only choice to make is which paint colour you prefer. Arctic White Mist is free; Eclipse Black, Forest Green and Slate Grey are £500; Nightfall Ice Grey is £750.
The standard equipment list is far too long to regurgitate in its entirety, but stand-outs are the heated, ventilated, electric and massage front seats, the 14-speaker Sony stereo (with speakers in the headrests that separate nav instructions so you can keep the music going while having the next turn piped straight into your ear). Then there’s the 20-inch wheels, and cameras everywhere so there’s zero excuse for kerbing them. A “hello Chery” personal assistant which sounds hi-tech but as usual, proved patchy. And laminated glass to keep things quiet on the move.
You’ll also get a seven year/100,000-mile warranty, and an eight year/100,000-mile battery warranty to boot, which is nice, as well as a year of RAC breakdown cover.
