Hyundai Kona (2018-2023) review

Thanks to inflation and electrification, the Kona range no longer starts below the £20,000 mark. The base spec SE Connect mild-hybrid with the smallest 17-inch wheels comes with a very respectable amount of equipment and now begins at £21,060 in the UK.

If we’re sticking with the standard Kona, N Line trim is next up with its sporting touches and a starting price of £23,590. As previously mentioned, that brings the larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen – although if you’re a regular Apple CarPlay user it’s worth noting that only two-thirds of the larger screen is used when your phone is connected and Hyundai hasn’t thought to programme in any shortcuts or useful links along the side. Shame.

The next step up the Kona ladder is Premium trim at £23,660. That includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and front parking sensors, whereas top spec ‘Ultimate’ Konas (£25,960) also get heated rear seats, LED headlights and a sunroof as standard. Not bad, right?

Kona Hybrid prices begin at £23,750 for the 16-inch wheeled SE Connect and then head up to £26,550 for the Premium and a slightly worrying looking £29,050 for the Ultimate. There’s no Hybrid N Line, for the one person that might have been wondering.

As ever, all Konas get plenty of active safety features and all will come with Hyundai’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty and a roadside assistance package.
