Maserati Grecale Folgore review

Published: 26 Mar 2024

What should I be paying?

Hmm. The Grecale Folgore costs £109,905 before options. This is ambitious pricing, especially when you compare it with the new Macan Turbo (circa £95k) and BMW iX (from £102,755). There’s only one spec but it runs to a 14-speaker Sonus Faber audio system, multi-adjustable electric seats, adaptive cruise control, leather upholstery, and heated and ventilated seats.

Unlike the electric Gran Turismo, the Grecale uses a 400-volt architecture so it’s a little off the pace in terms of charging speeds. Find a 150kW charger and it’ll go from 20 to 80 per cent in 29 minutes, although the usual caveats apply (state of charge, the charging unit itself, and how much current the system can pull).

Maserati reckons most owners will charge at home, and the Folgore comes with a branded wall charger. There’s also a Europe-wide deal with 650,000 charging points.

Automatic battery pre-conditioning is enabled prior to charging to ensure maximum efficiency, and the nav system is aware of battery condition, state of charge and expected consumption. The Folgore features dynamic range mapping to quell charging anxiety. And there’s the obligatory app with load management software to balance energy draw and efficiency at peak times.

The warranty offers cover for four years or 50,000 miles, and the battery components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles.
