How Škoda is making it easy to go electric in 2024 and beyond
From an ever-expanding EV range to a committed electrification programme, the Czech manufacturer continues to lead fearlessly from the front
Interested in making the switch to an EV, but haven’t quite made the plunge yet? You’re not alone. The ever-growing market may leave you spoilt for choice, but it can be a challenge to find the car that best suits your needs.
If there’s one marque that stands out though, it's Škoda. The Czech brand’s multi-award-winning EV, the Enyaq, delivers in every area – including range, performance, technology, style and safety.
And it’s not just the Enyaq that sets Škoda apart. From an electrifying product roadmap to its commitment to carbon neutrality, this manufacturer is striving to make it simpler, more affordable and more attractive for you to go electric. Here’s how…

The shift to electric is gathering pace, but Škoda has deep roots where sustainable mobility solutions are concerned. After all, it was founded as a bicycle manufacturer in 1895, so in a way, the company has gone full circle and its commitment to electric vehicles is simply a return to form.
This dedication goes well beyond cars, too; it’s part of a wider commitment for the Volkswagen Group, which Škoda belongs to. By 2027, it plans to invest €120bn in electrification and digitisation. In addition to this, the organisation is on course to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
A roadmap to success
So that’s the big picture stuff, but Škoda’s still very much in the day-to-day business of making quality cars that provide everything you need. The brand plans to launch five more all-new EVs in the coming years, alongside the exceptional Enyaq.
Škoda’s flagship EV is available as a powerful SUV or an elegant Coupé, and boasts an impressive range of up to 364 miles* (WLTP) alongside rapid charging capability – from 10-80% in as little as 28 minutes**.
When it comes to performance, the Enyaq is, well, electrifying. This is a dynamic vehicle made all the more impressive by its array of premium technology and safety features, many of which come as standard – from a Virtual Cockpit to a host of assistance systems. The result is a car that delivers on all fronts.
However, the Enyaq is just the start of Škoda’s fully electric revolution. By 2026, the brand will offer a total of six EVs, including the Elroq (to be revealed later this year) and the recently announced compact crossover, the Epiq. Slated for 2025, it should come with a competitive price tag in the ballpark of £25,000.
What’s more, all EV models incorporate sustainable materials throughout. The Enyaq, for example, uses 13.1kg of recycled plastics in its exterior components, and up to 60% of its seat fabrics are made from recycled plastic – sustainability is quite literally woven into Škoda’s EVs.
Don’t sleep on Škoda’s PHEV offering either, which has been boosted by the all-new Superb estate and all-new Kodiaq crossover SUV. These offer an electric range of 84 miles and 75 miles (WLTP) respectively, with a BiK tax rate of just 5% when used as a company car. As such, they represent a great option for those looking to make a more gradual switch to EVs.

Back to the bigger picture, Škoda is partnering with other companies to make electrification altogether more straightforward for drivers. Even if you’re new to EVs, charging couldn’t be easier thanks to Škoda’s Powerpass – a simplified charging solution offering access to 200,000 charging points across the UK and Europe.
Instead of dealing with different charge point operators, charging speeds and costs, you can use them all, in one platform with three tariffs. You’ll also get access to IONITY, a high-powered, Europe-wide fast-charging network stretching from London to Lisbon and thousands of places in between.
Of course, you don’t need telling twice how a reliable, continent-wide charging infrastructure can open up a whole world of stress-free adventure.
If your property can accommodate home charging, Škoda’s partnership with home charging provider Ohme makes that simple, too. Every Enyaq comes with your choice of a free home charger, or a £500 charging credit for Powerpass – whatever best suits your needs.
Should you opt for a charger, you’ll have the choice of two. Ohme offers either a tethered wallbox (meaning the cable is permanently connected) or an untethered one (the cable can be disconnected). Naturally, the Enyaq comes with its own cable if you want the untethered option.
More affordable than you think
Last, but not least, the Enyaq is available via salary sacrifice. Set up by your employer, salary sacrifice schemes can provide you with cost-effective access to a brand-new EV like the Enyaq. Payment for the vehicle is deducted from your monthly salary pre-tax, which you may find boosts your personal tax savings overall, once everything is taken into account.

*Official WLTP electric range for Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé. These figures were obtained after the battery had been fully charged. The Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé is a battery electric vehicle requiring mains electricity for charging. Figures shown are for comparability purposes. Only compare electric range figures with other vehicles tested to the same technical procedures. These figures may not reflect real life driving results, which will depend upon a number of factors including the starting charge of the battery, accessories fitted (post-registration), variations in weather, driving styles, speed, vehicle and battery age and vehicle load. Data correct at 27/06/2024.
**Estimated charging times for the standard specification Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé, for comparison purposes. Actual charging times will vary depending on various factors, including the selected vehicle (and battery option, if available), the options you choose, the type of charger used, the level of charge in the battery, the age, type, condition and temperature of the charger and the battery, the power supply to and usage of the charger, ambient temperature at the point of use and other environmental factors. Charging time will be longer in cold weather. Charging times will also be affected by the charging curve (for example, once charging passes 80%, charging will slow to protect the battery’s longevity) and will be longer if battery temperature activates safeguarding technology. Figures are subject to change due to ongoing approvals/changes in model specification. Please consult your retailer for further information. Data correct as at 14/05/2024.The availability of 150kWh and 350kWh chargers is currently limited in the UK. They are mainly located on selected motorways and major arterial routes. These chargers are not currently available in Northern Ireland and numbers are extremely low in Scotland, Wales and rural parts of England.
