Caterham Superlight R400 news - Caterham reveals new Superlight - 2006

Published: 19 Apr 2006

Fans of barking mad lightweight sports cars will be frothing at the mouth with the arrival of the latest Caterham Superlight R400.

Caterham has crammed in the Cosworth-developed 2.0-litre engine with 210bhp, giving the 525kg featherweight Seven a power-to-weight ratio of 400bhp per tonne.

The engine revs beyond 8,000rpm and shatters 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds.

The stripped-out interior has four-point harnesses to keep driver and passenger in place in the carbon-fibre bucket seats.

To experience the raw thrills of the R400, you'll need £26,995 if you plan on building the vehicle yourself or £29,495 for a fully built car.
