Mitsubishi MiEV Cargo concept news - - 2009

Read more on:

It’s a question that has vexed us for many years. When, far in the future, Postman Pat is replaced by an Evil PostBot, what will the mail-delivering mechanoid drive?

Here’s your answer. This is the i-MIEV Cargo concept, a panel van version of Mitsubishi’s all-electric i and the oddest-looking thing we’ve seen since, well, that mental old Dodge concept.

Like the passenger-carrying PX-MiEV, the Cargo is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack driving a small electric motor over the rear wheels.

It develops 63bhp and 133lb ft of torque, so it won’t be quick - especially not when loaded up to the brim with Mrs Goggins’ prescription contact lenses and, er, electric sheep and things - but it’ll manage around 100 miles on a single charge.

Far more importantly, it looks ridiculous and we love it. If this is the future of electronic mail delivery, we want in. What do you mean, email?
