The CEER Exobots are 1,000bhp+ EVs from Saudi Arabia

It might be renowned for producing the stuff that our internal combustion engined cars run on, but now Saudi Arabia is turning its attention to something very different entirely: EVs.

What you’re looking at above is the Exobot Sedan and Exobot SUV. Designed and manufactured by startup CEER Motors (Saudi Arabia’s "first homegrown automotive brand”) – it has been greenlit for production by the Crown Prince himself.

Certainly aren't shy, are they? Measuring over 5m long and 2m wide, both the saloon and SUV are supremely wedgy. We're also told that at 2.4m long, the windscreen is the largest ever fitted to a production car. 

Both also feature nearly three metres of 'Shahin Wing' top-hinged door (inspired by a falcon of the same name, apparently) complete with a unique lower glass panel, which you can set to transparent or opaque. The latter being useful if you want to hide the fact that you’re not wearing any trousers.

The whole design is reportedly “grounded in Saudi historic relevance”, though we’re not seeing too many retro touches. All pretty futuristic, actually. You will have spotted the 32 separate lights front and rear though. They reference the year 1932 when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was formed.

Step inside and this thing is truly a rolling lounge, with a 48-inch pillar-to-pillar curved 8K display, plus a 10.4-inch central touchscreen. Heck, even rear passengers get their own eight-inch display. But not a steering yoke; that’s reserved for the driver only.

And if you’re worried that all that glass will see the cabin getting rather toasty – this being Saudi Arabia and all that – fear not, because the Exobot gets something called 'Halo Cooling' that can reduce cabin temperatures from 65°C to 32°C within 10 minutes.

The steering is by-wire, with the rear wheels also turning to make both Exobots feel that little bit more nimble. Power comes from three electric motors, capable of delivering up to 1,096bhp and 1,106lb ft of torque to all four wheels. That results in a 0-62mph time of 2.1 seconds for the saloon, and 2.4 seconds for the SUV. Good luck keeping your breakfast down…

The whole tri-motor setup is mated to a 112kWh battery that gives the saloon a range of up to 416 miles, and the SUV up to 348 miles. We’re told a 10-80 per cent charge takes under 30 minutes thanks to its 800V architecture.

Production will be based at King Abdullah Economic City, the largest manufacturing facility in the Middle East, and the Exobots are the first of seven models planned for launch by 2030. Watch this space.
