This just in: Porsche has set a ‘Ring record with a Manthey Taycan Turbo GT

Modded EV does a 6m 55.5s, is *twelve seconds faster* than last Taycan GT

Porsche has bolted on a lovely set of Manthey performance parts onto its definitely-not-a-real-turbo Taycan Turbo GT and absolutely sent it around a friendly little place called the Nürburgring.

This little adventure has resulted in a time of 6m 55.533s, beating Porsche’s last excursion with a Taycan Turbo GT – that time outfitted with only the Weissach Pack – by twelve entire seconds. That’s not a bit quicker, that’s basically a week faster. It's also nine seconds quicker than the production-spec Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, meaning the Porsche reclaims its title of fastest 'electric executive car'.

What then, does a Manthey kit add to the already kitted out Taycan Turbo GT with a Weissach Pack? A “comprehensive aerodynamic update” that takes in a new rear wing with bigger end plates, a better front diffuser, a new high performance rear diffuser with extended fins, and bigger air deflectors on the underbody.

The resulting downforce is now three times more compared to the standard car: at 124mph, it rises from a paltry 95kg to a substantial 310kg. At its 193mph full whack, it generates 740kg. Downforce for days. Or weeks, probably.

There’s more, however, because this time Manthey’s tickled the electricities, too: the battery, control unit and pulse inverters have all been “optimised”, so the thing now kicks out 805bhp. Max torque has had a little bump, too. And there’s ‘Attack Mode’ which gives you an overboost for ten seconds.

Visually you’ll spot new 21in wheels that are lighter than the regular car's, plus bigger brakes and lots of exposed carbon fibre bits. And yes, you can have all of these delicious upgrades for your own Weissach-equipped not-a-turbo Turbo GT and be just like Lars Kern, the hotshoe responsible for that time.

“The Manthey kit turns the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package into the ultimate track tool,” said Kern.
