Fiat has given its ‘baby mouse’ a baby roof: meet the £9.5k Topolino Dolcevita
If cuteness were a car, it’d be this
This is an adorable small car with an adorable name relating to small thing with an adorably small opening roof. Meet the Fiat Topolino Dolcevita.
Though – cliched Italian name aside – isn’t Fiat launching it at precisely the wrong time? We understand that Italy doesn’t turn into a mulchy grey wasteland between November and April, but this is the UK reveal, with Fiat’s littlest cabrio unveiled just as the UK turns into… a mulchy grey wasteland. Hey ho.
Said No-Topo costs just £9,495 – £500 more than the regular Topo – largely due it being very much not a Car, but instead a compact electric quadricycle. It’s Fiat’s Citroen Ami, basically: a tiny quad with a 5.4kWh battery, 28mph top speed, 46-mile range and… not much else.
Well, apart from the new fabric roof, previously available only on special editions but now freely available. And whether you freely want one depends on your specific use case.
Because when driving the topped-Topo, though “aggressively cute”, we found it to be “desperately slow”, with “playskool suspension” and built out of “hope and cobwebs”. Awkward.
Still, probably better than a London travelcard, right?
