The MG Cyberster all-electric sports car will start at £54,995
Confirmation of pricing for MG's drop-top EV. Full fat 496bhp version will be just under £60k
MG has finally published pricing for the Cyberster. The EV roadster will start at £54,995 here in the UK, rising to £59,995 for the flagship Cyberster GT. Not cheap, but then the Cyberster doesn't really have any direct rivals to go up against.
The twin-motor AWD GT version of the Cyberster gets 496bhp and 535lb ft of torque, achieves 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, drops its fabric top in ten seconds and has powered scissor doors.
For five grand less, the RWD Cyberster – known as the Trophy – has the same fancy doors, attractive cabrio styling and a healthy 335bhp and 350lb ft of torque. The 0-62mph sprint takes 5.0 seconds in that car, and it could well be the one to go for.
Both iterations have a 77kWh battery – good for an official 316 miles in the Trophy and 276 in the GT. There are Brembo brakes and four driving modes for all Cybersters too - comfort, custom, sport and track. Oh, and it also supports 150kW rapid charging, taking the battery from 10-80 per cent in less than 40 minutes.
The Cyberster Trophy wears 19in 'Lightning' wheels, where the GT gets a set of 20in 'Jetstream' wheels clad with Pirelli P Zero tyres. Good names.
Inside the cabin, there are more screens than seats, plenty of infotainment and driver assist tech and an eight-speaker audio suite. David Allison, product head at MG, said: “The Cyberster is a car designed to excite, whether through its head-turning design or its scintillating performance.
“Both the Trophy and GT are compelling two-seat EV sporting roadsters which promise to propel grand touring into the electric age.”
