The new Alpine A390 looks like it'll be an all-electric coupe-SUV
Alpine will show a concept A390_β on 11 October, with the real thing set for production in 2025
Alpine has confirmed that it will display its new A390_β show car at the Paris Motor Show next month, with an online reveal taking place a few days before on 11 October. Yep, much like it did with the A290 hot hatch, the French firm will whet our appetites with a beta version before the proper production car is unveiled later down the line.
The actual A390 will enter production in Dieppe in 2025 though, so there shouldn't be too long to wait. Based on past experience, the finished article will probably look quite a lot like the A390_β show car too. Basically, this is a rather big deal. Oh, and from the teaser image above we now know that the A390 will be... a coupe-SUV thing.
Yes, the A390 looks as though it’ll be a jacked-up, four-door rival to cars like the Volkswagen ID.5 and Cupra Tavascan. Alpine itself refers to the shape as a ‘sport fastback’. Of course, we know that the A390 will be all-electric, but we're yet to see any further powertrain details or weight/performance figures.
Worried that the A390 won't seem very... Alpine? Well, the firm has also confirmed that it’ll show off the latest version of its Alpenglow Hy6 (a hydrogen-powered prototype racer) at the Paris show, along with ‘new examples of A110 customisations’. It's clearly still a proper performance brand then, so let's hope the A390 gets some of that A110 DNA. More as we get it.
