New Polestar 2 BST edition 270 performance EV revealed
Power and suspension tweaks for the ‘most dynamic’ Polestar 2 yet
Polestar has revealed the – deep breath – ‘BST edition 270’, which it claims is its ‘most dynamic’ EV geared towards driving enthusiasts.
The new Polestar 2 Wind The Clocks Forward edition gets the OTA software upgrade we first heard about last December, which boosts power and torque from that twin-motor, 78kWh battery setup to 469bhp and 502lb ft.
Quick, too – 0-62mph takes just 4.4secs, and for the new version, Polestar’s also thrown in some new hardware. There are special Ohlins two-way adjustable dampers with auxiliary adjustment chambers mounted under the bonnet, a 25mm lower ride height, a front strut bar and 20 per cent stiffer springs.
Though the regular Brembo four-pot stoppers remain, they sit behind new 21in matte black alloy wheels. Indeed, the new Polestar 2 Wait Do We Put The Clocks Back edition also gets either a ‘Thunder’ or ‘Snow’ exterior paintjob, fully painted bumpers and skirts, gloss black mirrors, and the option of a black body stripe. As the wiser, perhaps greyer motoring enthusiasts among you can confirm, stripes definitely add horsepower.
Only 270 models of this new 2 will be built, exclusively for Europe and North America. “We had a great reaction to the specially modified Polestar 2 we showed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2021 and the response made it clear, we should create a version like that for production,” said Polestar boss Thomas Ingenlath.
Looks good, no? To see why the Polestar 2's such an important - and quality - EV, read the full TopGear.com review here.
