The Polestar 3 price just dropped by £4k to £75,900

All-electric carmaker slices a few grand off the newest model. Early Christmas, anyone?

Published: 13 Mar 2024

It looks like the entry-level Polestar 3 is going to be a few quid cheaper than first thought. And by a few quid, we mean four grand.

Invites – by which we mean ‘emails’ – instructing potential buyers ‘to the configurator’ have been sent out stating that pricing starts from £75,900 for the fully electric SUV in Long Range dual-motor guise.

Yep, that’s the one that claims to go almost 400 miles on one charge, and can tow up to 2.2kg with its 483bhp and 620lb ft torque. It’s also the one that has a bunch of sensors in the cockpit to keep an eye on you, your kids and pets (in a caring, rather than creepy, way).

And, it’s the same one that was originally priced at £79,900 for the Launch Edition. We rather enjoyed our test drive in the sleek Polestar 3 prototype last November. Opting for the pricier 3 with the Performance Pack shaves a whole 0.3 seconds off the 0-62mph time and almost 50 miles from the range. Nonetheless, for £5,600, you can boost power to 510bhp and torque to 671lb ft.

By our quasi-maths, opting for the upgrade is now technically two-thirds free, no? Polestar says the Launch Edition is pretty much sold out, so it's moved to this newer, cheaper entry-level model which does without that original car's Pilot and Plus packs. It's a strategy the brand followed in 2020 for the Polestar 2 and clearly it was successful.

But we’re not complaining. Polestar tends to be pretty generous with its standard spec too, and a home charging device is included with each one bought. We’re off to pick some lottery numbers…
