There’s a new Tesla Model 3 offering 436 miles of range
Tesla brings its longest range Model 3 to Europe
A new longer range Tesla Model 3 with an official 436 miles of range has arrived in the UK and Europe. Prices for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) electric car start at £44,990, five grand dearer than the standard Model 3.
Targeting what it calls “hardcore travellers”, Tesla is very keen for you to know that efficiency has improved. The car only uses 20.1kWh to cover 100 miles, down from 20.6kWh and that's only pipped by the Polestar 2 Long Range single motor, covering the same distance with 19.8kWh. Tesla hasn't said what size battery the Model 3 Long Range RWD uses, but we expect it to be the same 75kWh unit as in the Model Y Long Range RWD.
The rest of the car is as the standard Model 3, with all the connectivity and cabin trimmings launched in the update last year. That includes the acoustic glass, improved suspension and seals, and upgraded dampening. As well as an extensive package for infotainment, there’s ventilated front seats and heated seats for the first and second rows, too.
According to the carmaker’s calculations, it offers the best price-to-range ratio on the market right now – a claim we’re in the process of verifying, but it’s done some cigarette-packet maths and figures a driver doing about 10,000 miles a year with a decently low overnight home charging rate will pay about £150 for charging the thing annually. Funny definition of a hardcore traveller, mind.
The Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD is available to order now, with deliveries beginning in November.
