There's a new Mercedes electric car coming

This is Mercedes-Benz’s new electric car. Well, a picture of it. A picture of a little bit of it. The good news is we only have to wait a week to see the whole of the real thing, which will appear at the Frankfurt motor show.

As will the latest special edition of the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, a V8 or V12-powered monster truck. And the Mercedes-AMG Project One with 1,000bhp. Yep, Merc is properly showcasing the variety of its wares in its ginormous Frankfurt show hall.

Quite what form the electric car takes we don’t know. It’ll have ‘EQ’ in its name, because that’s Merc’s electric sub-brand. And rumours suggest it’s a smallish, affordable-ish car to rival the BMW i3. But we’ll find out for sure next week. If we can tear ourselves away from the hypercar…
