This is the facelifted Peugeot 308, and it is clearly angry about something

Updated hatch and estate get new lights and bumpers. Keep their controversial interiors…

Published: 26 Aug 2025

Before you ask… no, Peugeot hasn’t dropped its Marmite interior concept with the facelifted 308 hatch and 308 SW estate. The “famous i-Cockpit” (Peugeot’s words, not ours) remains, with all versions of the 308 getting a dinky steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster. Although you can now have new 3D graphics on said cluster if you tick the right box on the configurator. Exciting!

Elsewhere inside, there’s a 10in central touchscreen with customisable shortcuts underneath, and you can have fancy materials like genuine Alcantara. Comfy AGR-certified driver’s seat, too, with massage and heating functions on the top GT Premium trim.

It’s outside where you’ll spot the more obvious changes, though. The 308 was already a handsome car, but Peugeot has given it an aggressive new grille and a sharp (geddit?) ‘three-claw light signature’. We’re also told this is the first Peugeot to feature an illuminated emblem up front. Exciting!

New air intakes at the outer edges of the front bumper improve the 308’s aero, and there are fresh 17in and 18in diamond-cut wheel designs.

As with the pre-facelift third gen there will be pure petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, diesel and fully electric options. In hatch form the EV gains 23 miles of range over its predecessor to up its WLTP total to 281 miles from a 55.4kWh usable battery. There’s also a standard heat pump on GT Premium trim that’s optional on the lower Allure and GT. Exciting!

The plug-in hybrid also gets a range increase, with its 17.2kWh battery providing an EV range of 53 miles. That’s supplemented by a 1.6-litre four-pot and seven-speed dual-clutch auto.

Peugeot said the new 308 and 308 SW “set new standards in sustainability” with 31 per cent recycled and renewable materials used in their construction. Exciting!
