BMW has built a special edition M3 Touring dedicated to the Nürburgring

It’s green. That’s the headline. A green BMW. Sorry to be so blunt up top, but BMW’s six new special edition M cars and three special edition M bikes dedicated to 100 years of the Nürburgring posit the simple notion of ‘BMW But Green’.

Still, it’s a chance to look at a BMW M3 Touring in an exclusive “historical Nürburgring Green” paint. And a chance to remember that like every other performance carmaker, BMW spends an inordinate amount of time lapping the Green Hell to make its cars firm and schporty. For better or worse.

There’s more than just Green. A ‘100 Years’ logo, pointing to the Nürburgring’s arrival in 1927 – 1927! – ‘Nürburgring since 1927’ wording, and of course, the Nordschleife circuit silhouette, like the ones plastered to the back of every E46 M Sport 316i on Earth.

Stripes happen. “Light grey tones” also. Contrast interior stitching. Alcantara steering wheels. Embroidered headrests. Kidney accents. Wheel accents [gasp]. And of course, all the goodies you get when you purchase a modern BMW M car, including straight-sixes, V8s, lots of horsepower, lots of weight and lots of slidey.

Only 100 of each model – M2, M3 saloon, M3 Touring, M4, M5 saloon, M5 Touring – will be available, along with 100 versions of three BMW M bikes too, available to order later this month for delivery next year. No word on prices, nor how many are coming to the UK.

Oh, right. It’s not just green. You can also get the special editions in black, too. Kinda defeats the whole 'historical Nürburgring Green' thing, somewhat.
