This is the last ever Maserati Quattroporte, and it’s a stunner
Yep, Maser has finally signed off its long-serving super saloon. Oh, it’s also waving goodbye to the V8 engine with it
Who’s cutting onions? Maserati, probably, because these images show the last-ever Quattroporte, which will also be the last time we’ll see a V8-powered car from the Modenese marque.
Dubbed the ‘Grand Finale’ and designed by Maserati’s Fuoriserie customisation program, it previews a series of bespoke touches, including the Blue Nobile exterior finish. It’s also got a unique set of carbon fibre bumpers thrown on, while the brake callipers are brushed in aluminium.
The number ‘999999’ is also imprinted along the windscreen and just inside the driver’s side door. That’s the identification number, by the way, and likely not the total number sold. The Quattroporte may not be getting retired had it been, *sobs*.
Open the bonnet and you’ll spot a custom cover shielding that lovely engine: a 3.8-litre V8 putting out 580bhp and around 538lb ft. That’s enough to get it to 62 in just over four seconds and allow it to keep pushing to a top speed of 203.
And all that performance continues to be offered with many luxuries: the Grand Finale gets plenty of leather and something called ‘burl’ within the cabin. No idea what that is either. There are also a few bespoke details along the A-pillar, door panels and steering wheel, while the central reservation has a commemorative badge.
So, after six generations and over 60 years on the scene, we finally say farewell to a true icon of the automotive space. Go well, Quattroporte. You’ll be fondly remembered.
