RB’s Miami GP livery is WAY better than the normal one

Team adopts technicolour dreamcoat, immediately creates the grid’s best livery

Published: 02 May 2024

Are you watching, Ferrari? This is how you make a livery stand out from the crowd. Say hello to RB’s one-off Miami livery, soon to star in a Broadway production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (not really).

Kidding aside, F1’s liveries have largely been a bit pants this season, and the two one-offs we’ve had so far - McLaren’s Japanese GP colours and Ferrari’s somewhat blue Miami design - have been a bit… restrained, shall we say.

You can thank F1’s immense weight saving for the Carbon Fibre Fest. But RB has decided to buck the trend in some style, and the result is the funky, lava lamp disco tribute you see above. Colour! Vibrance! We like it.

This ode to joy isn’t inspired by rainbows though, nor is it the work of the graffiti artist spraying away merrily in the gallery above. Nope, it’s actually a mock-up of a metallic debit card wielded by several million (RB title sponsor) Visa users. Oh.

Still, while the source might not be very exciting the end result definitely is. Everyone else should be taking note.

“Visa Cash App RB’s Chameleon Card livery is the perfect colour scheme for our first race in the US,” said RB CEO Peter Bayer. “Since the team’s Las Vegas launch in February, we’ve taken some big steps forward, and we’re bringing fans on an exciting new journey.

“This incredible livery and the events surrounding its launch here in Miami demonstrate their commitment to the team and F1, and we can’t wait to see the Chameleon VCARB 01 in action this weekend.”

The livery will also be applied to the RB-backed F1 Academy car - driven by Amna Al Qubaisi - as the series returns after the season opener in Saudi Arabia some weeks ago.
