What do you think of Alpine’s one-off Deadpool & Wolverine livery?

No word yet on if the carbon fibre is self-healing…

Published: 24 Jul 2024

This, ladies and gents, is Alpine F1’s one-off Deadpool & Wolverine livery, which will be run at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa this weekend. Looks suitably menacing, huh?

Timed to coincide with the release of Ryan Reynolds’ latest anti-superhero action flick this week, the livery takes on the red ‘n’ black colour scheme of Deadpool’s now iconic suit.

Although - probably because F1 rules forbid it - the team can’t also run a yellow ‘n’ black, Wolverine-inspired alternative at the same time. Boo. Will no one think of Hugh Jackman?

It’s Alpine’s first special race livery since its skateboarding-and-apparel-brand camo effort for the Las Vegas Grand Prix last November.

The team will be hoping that it inspires Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly to kick some derriere this weekend: Ocon hasn’t scored any points since the Spanish Grand Prix and Gasly has DNFed the last two races, with the team now sat eighth in the constructors’ standings.

Rumour has it that Alpine could ditch its own F1 engine programme and is chasing a Mercedes deal for 2026. That’ll surely need a rebrand if it happens: how about Alpine Powered by X-Force?

Deadpool - sorry, Reynolds - is a stakeholder in the team after all…
