Oops, looks like Star Wars: Galactic Racer just accidentally leaked its own release date
October the 6th be with you
Big news for fans of falling leaves, nature’s greens turning reddish-brown, and spaceships absolutely pelting along alien terrain while whacking chunks out of each other – a recent Steam update appears to have accidentally revealed that Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be released on PC on 6 October.
Let us explain. The game’s preorder bonus info was recently updated on SW: GR’s Steam store page, so while the official release date itself remains a poker-faced ‘2026’, the marketing images within that preorder bonus update carry the line ‘Coming 6th October, 2026'. Based on that, we think there’s a chance they’re planning to release the game on 6 October, 2026.
Publisher Secret Mode has not commented on the release of these images, and neither confirmed nor denied the release date.
The Steam pre-order info update is no longer live, unsurprisingly, but has been captured and shared by Wario64 on X, an ever-vigilant account that often breaks games industry news.
What about the game itself? If you missed the reveal back in February, it’s a gorgeous modern take on the old-school Star Wars: Episode I Racer where futuristic machinery hurtles around courses that the FIA would never sanction in a million years.
The official literature describes it as "a high-stakes reinvention of racing born in the lawless Outer Rim".
"With the Empire gone and the galaxy rebuilding, The Galactic League is created: an underground, unsanctioned circuit where syndicates bankroll chaos and champions are forged," it adds.
It can’t only be us who pictures Need For Speed with Jawas when we read that. Roll on autumn.
