Play the new Top Gear Sandbox game and save ‘The Stigverse’
‘The Gits’ – defective digital Stigs – are causing havoc. Only you can stop them
A well-intentioned bid to insert The Stig into the metaverse has not gone well. Instead of a digitised, mute, white-suited racing driver who only communicates via oversteer, there are instead a multitude of defective Stigs.
They’re called The Gits and they’re causing all sorts of chaos. Uh oh.
Welcome to The Stigverse, a new Top Gear experience on social gaming platform The Sandbox, brought to you by BBC Studios in collaboration with games studio Reality+.
In the new game, players will be faced with restoring order in The Stigverse as Stig’s defective clones wreak havoc. Clones like Unfortunate Git, Flamin’ Git, and the dastardly mastermind behind the ever-growing horde of Gits – the Science Git.
There are seven zones inspired by Top Gear’s engineering challenges, including an ‘All-Terrain’ zone, ‘Mountain’ and ‘Scrapyard’, along with the secret lair of the Science Git, The Clone Lab.
Challenges include reconstructing the world famous Trak-Tor, racing a rally car down a mountain, and running a daring gauntlet in a scrapyard.
Stephen Davies, SVP Global Licensing at BBC Studios said: “We’re thrilled to bring Top Gear into The Sandbox, as it offers us a fantastic opportunity to reimagine the world of Top Gear for a new digital audience, and we can’t wait to see players dive into the chaos and challenges of The Stigverse.”
Tony Pearce, CEO at Reality+, said: “This experience is a love letter to the world of Top Gear, offering a unique blend of engaging gameplay, captivating challenges, and unforgettable moments that will delight both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
Sébastien Borget, Co-Founder & COO of The Sandbox, added: “We’re proud to welcome Top Gear in The Sandbox open metaverse.
“By reimagining iconic moments and engineering challenges from the show, players will be able to engage with Top Gear in new and interactive ways, bringing the adrenaline and excitement of the series into the virtual world.”
