Mountune has given the Mk4 Ford Focus ST 360bhp
Buck, meet lots of bang. Storied Ford tuners roll out ‘m365’ pack, starting at £689
Storied Ford tuner Mountune has announced details of its latest upgrade package for the Mk4 Ford Focus ST. It is called the ‘m365’ kit, and unsurprisingly offers a nice, neat 365PS.
That’s around 360bhp, which is a considerable increase on the standard Focus ST’s 276bhp from that 2.3-litre Ecoboost 4cyl turbo. You can pick and choose from any number of high performance cars that this tuned Focus ST now matches, because 360bhp is a fair old whack for a front-drive hatch.
No word on 0-62mph, but there is word on additional torque, this m365 version also offering a very healthy 413lb ft (over the standard car’s 310lb ft). And, interestingly, you can do some of it from home.
It’s available via the company’s Bluetooth OBD dongle and ‘SMARTflash’ app, which allows owners to upgrade the ST’s ECU themselves. There’s also a high-flow panel air filter on offer, and a new 3in high-flow exhaust downpipe with a sport catalyst and ‘Sport GPF’, the latter said to reduce back-pressure but not affect the vehicle’s emissions. It’s been tested by Mountune to ensure it’ll still pass a UK MOT.
If you’ve already got Mountune’s m330 kit and the supporting hardware already, you simply need to hand over £99 plus VAT to upgrade your ECU to m365 spec. The ‘mTune SMARTflash’ also offers four calibrations: m365 performance, m330 performance, stock and anti-theft.
Mountune boss David Mountain said: “Ford has done a great job with the stock ST and what we have done with this m365 upgrade kit is to fully optimise the calibration with our newly engineered low-back pressure exhaust hardware – this means maximum performance is available throughout the rev-range and it’s now a seriously fast car, which is also great fun to drive, too.”
