Acura has started building the last 600bhp NSX Type S supercars
The beginning of the end for the Acura NSX as the last 350 cars get prepped
It's the beginning of the end for the NSX. Acura has started building the final 350 'Type S' supercars before wrapping up the car's run. And predictably, they've all been accounted for: 300 are off to the States, while 50 will remain in Japan.
Special cars, too. The NSX Type S gets that twin-turbo V6 and three-motor hybrid setup kicking out 600bhp and 492 lb ft of torque. Type S cars also get unique five-spoke wheels, stickier Pirelli P-Zero tyres, retuned dampers, the all-important Type S decals (worth an additional 30mph, surely?) and a carbon fibre roof.
More lightness emerges in the shape of the Lightweight Pack: carbon ceramic brakes, and carbon fibre for both the engine cover and interior shaving a healthy 26kg. Because we sometimes deploy canine analogies, that's equivalent to a medium-sized Golden Retriever. Don't ask us how we know.
