Just how afraid of the new 592bhp Audi RS6 are you?

It's too late. You've looked directly into the eyes and soul of the new Audi RS6. Your days, dear friends, are numbered.

Speaking of numbers, it has many big and important ones. Like 592bhp from a biturbo V8, and 590lb ft of torque. There are four litres of displacement, eight cylinders, eight gears, and drive to four wheels.

Something unquantifiable by mere figures however, is just how angry the new RS6 is. And how afraid of it you should be.

Just look at it, all swollen arches and blistered bodywork and a mouth ready to swallow you up, heart and soul. Truly, when the End Of All Things arrives, this will be knocking on the door.

Sure, it's not always angry, as we found out during a test drive. It has a duality of character; in one hand a considered, luxurious family wagon. A smooth operator.

Drive it on the doorhandles however, and you'll find something that's devastatingly capable point-to-point. Ruthless, you might say.

Little known fact: this is the exact distance you're likely to see one of these things. Which is about 1cm behind you on the fast lane of the motorway.

There is, as a great movie villain once said, nothing to fear but fear itself.

Audi is notoriously conservative when it comes to performance metrics, but the official numbers go something like this: 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds, 0-124 mph in 12 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph with the potential of opening the taps all the way to nearly 200mph.

Hear that distant, semi-muffled whine? That's your dog. It wants out. Now.

Nothing to fear in here, mind. Unless you don't like technology. In which case, you're pretty screwed.
