This is the £262k Brabus 750: a rowdy upgrade for the second-gen AMG GT 63

More carbon, new exhaust and a lower ride height. Is this what the GT should’ve been from the start?

Published: 11 Dec 2024

Much has been made of the second-generation AMG GT 63, what with it putting on over 300kg from its predecessor and morphing into a 2+2. Is it too grown up now? Perhaps, and Brabus wants to remedy that with what it’s calling the ‘PowerXtra B40S-750’ package.

We know what you’re thinking: why is it named after a mid-Noughties Motorola, and how exactly will Brabus make it more juvenile? We haven’t a clue about question one, but question two is much simpler. Look at it.

The puffy-cheeked aesthetics come courtesy of new inserts for the radiator grille, sleeker splitters, attachments behind the front wheel arches and a thin rear spoiler - all made of the good stuff. Carbon fibre, not chunks of Lindt chocolate, just to be clear.

Its standard quad exhaust is also replaced with electronic valve-controlled stainless steel pipes, while forged 22in Monoblock ‘Platinum Edition’ alloys (as pictured) are among the wheel choices. Sports springs also lower the ride height by a further 25mm, adding a bit more impose to the brawnier face.

Power has seen a marked step up from the GT 63 ‘Pro’ too, with a light fettle from Brabus yielding 740bhp and 664lb ft from the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. It shaves three-tenths off the run to 62mph (2.9s) with an unchanged top speed of 196mph. The GT 63 ‘S E Performance’ hybrid is still a shade quicker though.

As usual, you also get a splattering of interior refinements. New entry panels with illuminated logos, pedals made of either aluminium or exposed carbon and lots of leather lining on the fresh mats. Plus near endless configurability to the seat upholstery and colour finishes.

Price? That’ll be €318,000, or just over £262,000 on this side of the Channel. Reckon it’s a price worth paying for an AMG more in touch with its ancestors?
