The Ford Mustang is going racing in British GTs

From the people who brought you new Ford GTs at Le Mans, it’s the Mustang GT4

The very American Ford Mustang is going hunting for motorsport trophies, titles and glory – in the United Kingdom. Meet the Ford Mustang GT4, heading for the British GT championship field in 2019. Yee, and indeed, haw, to you sir.

The motorsport effort comes courtesy of Multimatic Motors, the race team which developed the Ford GT road car and the Chip Ganassi racers that duel in the FIA World Endurance Championship. We’re talking Sebring, Silverstone, Spa… and Le Mans. Multimatic is no stranger to competing in the white heat of motor racing.

And so it’s proven, as the Multimatic-developed Mustang GT4 has already won the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.

The British GT driver line-up looks strong too. Multimatic has announced Sebastian ‘Seb’ Priaulx (GB), son of Multimatic WEC regular Andy Priaulx, and winner of the most recent round of the British F4 Championship will join Multimatic veterans, Scott Maxwell (CAN) and Billy Johnson (USA) in the team.

The fourth, yet to be chosen driver will be a young racer, in order to demonstrate how the GT4 helps develop young talent, the team says. It must stick to the track more securely than the ones leaving Cars’n’Coffee meets, then…
