Today, we have caught a glimpse of rallying’s big-winged future. And as exciting as we hope it ends up being, we can’t help but pop on the rose-tinted spectacles and hark back to a time when off-road racing wasn’t about pumped up superminis with 1.6-litre engines.
A time when mid-engined, rear-driven supercars nonchalantly slid around on ice, in fact. Call us curmudgeons, but surely all the tricks in the book can’t produce a rally car as achingly cool nor as irresistibly intimidating as a Lancia Stratos?
