TVR is doing art cars now, and Senna’s racing one

Rebellion Racing’s TVR-badged art cars will challenge for Le Mans victory

Published: 11 Jun 2019

Yep, we know. The TVR Griffith still isn’t here yet. Some 21 months after its first reveal, the Blackpool firm’s all-new sports car still hasn't appeared on British roads. Boo.

But we’re simple folk here at TopGear.com, and therefore if you show us a) bright shiny colours and b) a man called Senna, we’ll turn a blind eye to most things.

On that note, welcome to Rebellion Racing’s TVR-badged LMP1 cars, ready and eager to do a David v Goliath on Toyota at this weekend’s Le Mans 24 Hours. With the help of a) bright shiny colours and b) a man called Senna. Yay!

The paint jobs are by an artist called RocketByz, and it’s fair to say his palette is ‘lurid’. As a way to refocus spectators’ eyes at 5am as the sun rises and they attempt to waggle the beer out of their brains, it’s a range of colours that could prove pretty handy. Or trippy. But hopefully the former.

The black-based number one car will be driven by Andre Lotterer, Neel Jani and – yes – Bruno Senna, with a princely four Le Mans 24 wins between them, while the white-based number three wears the less well-known names of Gustavo Menezes, Nathanael Berthon, and Thomas Laurent.

But both cars ought to be chomping at the bit to pick up on any slack by firm Le Mans 2019 favourites Toyota, with their pair of hybrid-assisted LMP1 prototypes. What Griffith?
