AMG's fighty little race car with a big wing gets to duke it out competitively for the first time. At the 'Ring...
AMG's replacement for the SLS GT3 is the AMG GT3. And like the SLS - and unlike the AMG GT - it uses a 6.2-litre, naturally aspirated V8 engine to power it and its mighty wing around the world's race circuits. This is a tremendously good - and loud - thing to use.
Top Gear was privy to the AMG GT3's first shakedown test, but here it is, racing competitively for the first time at the Nürburgring in the VLN, ahead of a planned roll-out next year. It started the race from pole, which Bernd Schneider set. A pole time five seconds faster than the 2nd-placed car.
Woah.
