Good grief! Look what Land Rover did to these four Classic Defender V8s
A family of Land Rover restomods gets colour-changing green paint and white leather interiors
Land Rover Classic now offers two new bodystyles for those wanting a restomodded Classic Defender V8. So, in addition to the 90 Station Wagon, 90 Soft Top and 110 Station Wagon already available for an extortionate amount of money, you can now also have a 110 Double Cab Pick-Up or a 90 Hard Top.
Looks like the customer speccing this latest commission couldn't decide which to go for though, because they ended up with a family of four different variants all in matching finishes. And yep, with prices starting at £228,000, that means they’ve probably dropped a cool £1m+ on some old Land Rovers.
Not exactly shy and retiring old Land Rovers either, because all four 399bhp V8-engined cars have been treated to a colour-changing ‘Spectral Green’ paint finish that flicks between green, purple and gold depending on the light. Yikes!
The switching shade has also been applied to the 18in wheels, and there are ‘Icy White’ contrasting roofs and expedition cages. Hand-painted white coachlines, too. Apparently, it took 400 hours to coat each individual car.
On the inside there’s more of that Spectral Green on the dash, plus a whole heap of Bridge of Weir Vanilla leather on pretty much every possible surface. Land Rover Classic is also keen to point out that it now also offers a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system on top of the dash for wireless phone connectivity in the Classic Defender V8. Doesn’t look like this customer ticked that box, though.
“The single-client commission represents the near-infinite customisation possibilities that Land Rover Classic offers clients via its Works Bespoke service, including the option to specify a colour inspired from any source, including personal items, natural landscapes or other vehicles in their collection,” says Land Rover.
