Lunaz has restored an Aston Martin DB6 and given it a 5.0-litre straight-six

Electro-modder puts down the batteries for its 50th commission

A company that earned its spurs restoring and outfitting classic British motors with electricity has revealed its latest project: a classic British motor with – [gasp!] – a stonking great petrol engine.

Lunaz is back, and for its 50th commission has welcomed back its old friend, the Aston Martin DB6. But where its previous DB6 commissions were electrified, this one – for the first time – ups the ICE power.

And where it was once a 4.0-litre straight-six with around 282 horsies, it is now – as you’ve no doubt gathered from the headline – a 5.0-litre straight-six. With 350bhp.

Lunaz has tweaked the suspension, brakes and steering, too, and gone to town on the DB6’s shapely form. The client who commissioned this particular car – the first of only a ‘limited’ number of ‘First Edition’ cars – wanted a unique green paintjob, sculpted arches, and soft gold accents.

Inside the restored cabin you’ll find silver switchgear, mother-of-pearl inlays, cashmere, suede, and of course leather.

While Lunaz’s previous chapter was a fairly tumultuous one (shuttering the bit that aimed to electrify bin lorries and buses, sending staff home), this 5.0-litre DB6 marks “a new chapter” for the Silverstone-based company. A new chapter that now appears to be open to both ICE power and electrons in a “powertrain-agnostic approach”.

“We founded Lunaz to preserve, enhance, and reimagine the world’s most celebrated cars, allowing them to be driven and cherished for generations,” said boss David Lorenz. “This DB, our 50th commission and the first petrol project leveraging our Formula One derived expertise, is a watershed moment.”
