Watch the Pagani Zonda Revolucion on track
The Pagani Zonda R was supposed to be the last ever Zonda. Until along came the Zonda Revolucion, and oh, how we rejoiced. Harder, faster, pointer, it was the ultimate incarnation of Zonda. Zonda distilled.
Here then, for your delectation, are two Pagani Zondas filmed doing what they do best: having a good old blast around a track. The one with the stripe is, we're reliably informed, the mad Revolucion. The other car? The slightly less mad R.
Jeremy Clarkson vs Pagani Zonda R
It's been filmed by a chap called Marchettino, who somehow managed to squeeze himself into the enviable position of watching these two playboys have a little down time. And make some glorious noise.
That noise comes courtesy of Mercedes AMG's 6.0-litre V12 - naturally aspirated - to produce a whopping 789bhp and 538lb ft of torque in the Revolucion. That's 50bhp and 14lb ft more than the Zonda R. Nice.
The whole car weighs less than a Mini Cooper, too, thanks to a carbotanium tub at its core. You're looking at a 1070kg kerbweight. There's a six-speed magnesium transveral sequential gearbox and a trick new aero package over the R.
This includes lots of carbon fibre Things, a huge rear diffuser and DRS (drag reduction system), just like you get on a ruddy Formula One car. The carbon brakes are 15 per cent lighter than the R, too, and claim less fade.
Pagani's chief test driver - Davide Testi - told TG.com that he reckons this Revolucion could be a full 15 seconds quicker than the Zonda R around the Nürburgring. Woah.
For now, watch it play around a track in Italy. Turn it up LOUD.
