Does the new Pagani Utopia look better finished in carbon fibre?
Horacio’s third hypercar gets shown off in a museum with a new finish and da Vinci backdrop
This is the new Pagani Utopia. It is the third all-new model to emerge from the small Italian hypercar maker and cloaked in a carbon fibre body, looks right at home in a museum.
Specifically, the National Science and Technology Museum in Milan. Horacio wanted to showcase his newest creation alongside artwork from his hero Leonardo da Vinci. A creation that fires a 6.0-litre Mercedes-AMG biturbo V12-shaped riposte to the growing drive towards hybridisation and electrification.
“No heavy batteries, no hybrid power, just a wonderful V12,” Pagani itself said of the new project. Hence the name. It even comes with a proper manual gearbox option too.
Certainly looks a lot more… Pagani, shod in this carbon-fibre body as opposed to the affogato-coloured car we saw earlier in the week. All the better to slot seamlessly into its surroundings; specifically, six original drawings by Leo on his studies of air, loaned graciously by the Bibiloteca Ambrosiana to help launch Horacio’s own Utopia.
“He has been a huge influence in my life since I was a boy,” Pagani said of da Vinci.
And the exhibition showcases the Utopia since it was a sketch, too, along with the Zonda C12 and Huayra Coupe. Well, it is Utopia, after all.
